A normal day in highschool. The summer heat was dreadful, and most of the classrooms were putting their fans to good use. Cicadas screeched outside, probably in their last death throes as they melted under the sun. Kids who had gym class this period were spending it sitting in the shade. It would be ridiculous to have anyone run around. The homeroom teacher regarded the second years with a firm gaze, then looked at the boy standing next to her. Then back at the class. "Everyone, this is your new classmate, Hashimoto Potato. Introduce yourself." Potato grimaced and slouched slightly, looking away. "Good morning," he said quietly. "He just transferred here, so I trust you all will treat him well," she continued. "Hashimoto-kun, there is a seat in the back row open." Potato walked from the front to the back of the class and took a seat, slumping slightly. He set his backpack on the floor next to him. And just like that, a new person was added, and still the day continued as if nothing had happened.

"Hello there." Sitting next to Potato was a sweet looking blonde hair girl. She flashed him a cute little smile, assuring that she wasn't going to laugh at his name, because that would be absolutely cruel to the new student. She brushed her hair back before she turned slightly in her chair and extended a hand to him. She was oddly friendly... perhaps too friendly. "My name is Azuma Kiyoshi. Welcome to Kyofu Academy." She beamed happily.

Potato turned at the sound of a voice, dull eyes laced with a peculiar brightness at the sound of a sweet voice addressing him. He blinked at the hand offered him, but one look at the person who possessed it, and he was as good as trapped in a spider's web. He took her hand and shook it. "Hashimoto Potato," he said, then rubbed the back of his head. "Um... right, you would have heard the teacher saying that..." he mumbled, feeling slightly embarrassed, but it soon passed. He looked back at her, enamored again by her beautiful golden eyes, framed by those long lashes and that mane of gorgeous golden hair. And her smile only made her seem more glowing.

"No need to feel embarrassed Hashimoto-Kun!" She assured him in her sweet voice. "You'll get used to things here just fine!" She winked before turning back to the teacher when she began to talk again. Their homeroom teacher taught Math... one of the worst subjects at such a time in the morning. Everyone was going to die from heat exhaustion before the class even ended. But Kiyoshi seemed to not be bothered at all by the heat. She zoomed through her notes just like that. She continued to have a positive aura flowing off from her radiant personality. But it seemed to be... way too off.
Another girl tucked back in the corner of the class glanced over at the new student. She sat there near the window, looking like she was going to curl up into a ball in any second. She had brought her own little fan to keep herself as cool as she could from the blazing heat. She seemed to be dozing off before she heard the teacher call her name. Her last name was "Ida", and she seemed to stammer with her words. However she got out the correct answer, and she went back to dozing off, shooting glances at Potato.

Potato jotted down notes and read from the textbook what he could manage to follow along. There were some old notes left in from the previous student that helped out, so he copied those down to. Tangent... sin... cos... ugh... but he still felt satisfied that he could grasp the concept of the thing at least. He flipped his notepad over so he could use the back and kept writing. When Ida began her stumbling speech, he could not help but turn his attention to her. She seemed flustered, so he tried not to stare too long, but then he caught her staring at him a few times. It sort of unnerved him... to some degree at least. He was not totally against being checked out by a girl. He certainly was not a stud, but a lot of people considered him handsome enough. And sometimes he liked the attention, so he did not draw attention to the fact that he knew she was staring in case she stopped.

Ida had noticed he had caught her eyes, and she turned away, embarrassed. Her cheeks flushed pink before she quickly glanced over back towards someone near Potato.
Of course, Kiyoshi had shot a warning glare to the young Ida, as if to claim Potato as her own. It was like love at first sight kind of to her. But nobody had a clue of what language they were speaking. The two soon turned back to the teacher, sighing silently and waitingfor Math Class to be over. It seemed to have taken forever.
Eventually the heat of the day was let up, and it was finally time for lunch. Kiyoshi pulled out her bento lunch and looked to Potato, smiling brightly. "Hashimoto-Kun, how about you eat with me and my friends today?" She suggested with a smile. "I know they're all girls but we're all nice. I can assure you." She looked over towards Ida, who was shuffling over with her own bento lunch.

Potato-kun had his head on his desk, arms hanging loosely at his sides, as if someone had shot him or he had fallen asleep there. But when Kiyoshi spoke, he sat up straight and looked at her, listening to her offer attentively. "Oh, how very kind of you," he said, a polite smile just barely creasing the corners of his otherwise straight-lined mouth. "I'd really like that." Hanging out with girls isn't so bad, he reassured himself. He had a girlfriend in the city once, but she had literally no friends, so if they were together hanging out, it was always alone, and her inability to express anything made for some gray and bland encounters, well, until she went literally insane and then killed herself. At least there's more than one, he said.

"Our other friends are in a different class, but they do come over here to come and eat lunch." Kiyoshi said, before she turned her attention towards Ida. "Oh! And this is Ida Momoko. She was a transfer student not too long ago. She's a bit shy."
"I-I-It's nice to meet you Hashimoto-Kun!" She said quickly, nodding her head before sitting down at the desk in front of Kiyoshi.
Soon, three other girls walked into the classroom at a fast pace and stormed on over towards Potato, Kiyoshi and Momoko. In this group was a pink haired girl with bright red eyes. She seemed to be more of a mature girl, being an older classmate. Even through her serious gaze. She offered out a smile towards Potato. "Hello. You're the new transfer student aren't you?" She gave a small bow to him. "I'm Miyashiro Shinako. These are my two friends... Hasegawa Kazuki and Shinohara Yuki."
Kazuki offered a pleasant smile, before sitting in the desk in front of Potato. Yuki on the other hand just gave a small nod before plopping down directing in the middle of the isle between the desks. Shinako sat down in the desk next to Potato. "What is your name by the way?" She asked with her still pleasant smile.

Potato was slightly overwhelmed by the onslaught of females that surrounded him. They were not what he expected, not at all. Each of them was cute in their own way, and very attractive. Yuki with her white hair, Shinako's allure... he felt his face grow hot, but to his credit, he did not blush outwardly or anything. It took him a moment to reply as he was just trying to find his voice. His introversion was making him rather tongue-tied, and then of course, the staggering paranoia of making a fool out of himself. At least Shinako gave him something to focus on as she asked him a pertinent question. "Hashimoto Potato," he said, introducing himself. "And, thank you all for letting me eat with you. You're all very welcoming."

"What a cute name!!!" Kazuki squealed in delight, holding back from pinching his cheeks.
Yuki nearly held back some laughter, but she was greeted with a giant novel containing some of William Shakespeare's best novels. Yuki glared at Shinako, who pretended that nothing happened. "Shinako. What the hell was that for?!"
"It simply slipped. Sorry." She responded, not looking back at Yuki. She just smiled at Potato, liking his name. Even if it was a bit silly. "What a nice name Hashimoto. Where are you from?" She asked, before she caught her giant book from clonking her in the head and shooting Yuki a bit of a glare. Yuki recoiled a bit before she resumed eating her curry.

Finally pulling up his rather plain bento, Potato opened it and looked at what his mom had packed. Roasted vegetables and some soy sauce for dipping, rice, and miso glazed chicken. He took a bite and nibbled on the chicken, then paused when he was addressed. He quickly swallowed. "Tokyo," he replied. He picked up some vegetables and then a little rice and popped it into his mouth with his chopsticks. He was extra careful not to wolf it down as he usually tended to do. He was in really excellent company after all. It would be a shame to waste it.

"Tokyo!" Kazuki gasped, eating some fruits packing in her bento. "What's it like? I've always dreamed of going there!!"
Shinako looked rather surprised. She knew he came from a big city, but she wasn't expecting Tokyo. It was a frigging metropolis! She was expecting Kyoto or Kansai. However she didn't care much. She always loved to visit Tokyo. "Really? That's something." She took a bite of some shrimp her father gave her. "What brings you to a place like this?" She was rather curious. It was usually the other way around when it came to transfer students. Then again, Momoko came from Kyoto. And Kyoto was pretty large too.

He smiled politely. "Oh, yah, Tokyo's... well, it's very large. Lively. There's always something going on there, and it radiates a vibrant energy. Of course, there were downsides. Like pollution and things. But most days, you could forget all that since there was always so much to see and be a part of." He then turned to Shinako when she spoke, affording her the same rapt attention, but there was still that look in her eyes, something that enraptured him, as Kiyoshi's had the first time he looked at her. But then, a sort of shadow fell across his face, and he mixed some chicken into his rice to distract himself. "My parents divorced. My mother was always sick of the city life, so that's why we moved here." He took another bite of his lunch.

She frowned a bit. "I apologize if that was too personal. But welcome to the country side." She tried to cheer him up. "This little town doesn't have much to offer, but there's always some fun somewhere."
"Yeah!" Momoko chimed in, half-chewing on her lunch as well. "There's a big shopping center downtown, and you can buy a whole bunch of things! There's even an arcade there! We usually go to the arcade place on the weekends... since we do kind of like games thanks to Yuki-Chan."
"Call me 'Senpai', not 'Chan'." Yuki mumbled, rather finishing her lunch very quickly. "We have to wait until Friday to go ya know..."
"Also there are some small farms here." Kiyoshi chimed in, also finishing her lunch. "I live near a farm, there are even some horses over there."
